Honorary Awards

The following Special Awards shall be given at such times as in the judgment of the Board of the Foundation for the Advancement of African Americans in Film there are deserving recipients but are not necessarily given each year

SIDNEY POITIER TRAILBLAZER AWARD

This award shall be given to an actor to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement whose career reflects a consistently high quality of motion picture achievement.

OSCAR MICHEAUX IMPACT AWARD

This award shall be given to a filmmaker or producer to honor extraordinary distinction in lifetime achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences.

RUBY DEE HUMANITARIAN AWARD

This award is given to an “individual in the motion picture industry whose humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry.

VANGUARD AWARD

This award shall be given to honor extraordinary distinction in cinematic achievement, exceptional contributions to the state of motion picture arts and sciences, or for outstanding service to the industry any an individual year.
